Grade 1/2

Grade 1/2

Pen Pals

As part of our literacy program, grade 1/2 students have been focussing on letters as one of their text structures. We have been fortunate enough to have organised pen pals in grade 1/2 at Kilmore Primary School. It has been a very exciting time for us as we publish and post a series letters. We are all very excited about making new friends, sharing our learning and we eagerly await our replies!

Gardening Program

With the arrival of Spring, the 1/2s have dived right into the gardening program. Each week the classes support our Gardening Club by ensuring we maintain our beautiful native gardens. We love looking after our environment and are on the lookout for new visitors to our bird house.

School Concert

This term all the classes have been working hard to prepare for the school concert, Unique, Amazing, Special That's me! We practised our routines many times, decided on costumes and worked on bring out those lovely smiles. The grade 1/2 classes have had heaps of fun using their new props. Concert night was a night thoroughly enjoyed by the 1/2s. Congratulations, you all did a brilliant job!

Kym Lardner Incursion

Watsonia Heights Primary was very lucky to recieve a special visit from the well-known author and storyteller Kym Lardner. Famous for books such as The Naked Penguin and Arnold the Prickly Teddy, Kym is not only a highly entertaining writer, but talented illustrator and storyteller. On September 7th, Kym shared some very creative drawings and stories, inspiring a love for literacy in our community. We hope he will be back to visit soon!

Mini Olympics

On Wednesday the 12th of September, Prep-2 students competed in a inter-school Mini Olympics. This was a fantastic event and it was great to see our students supporting and encouraging each other whilst having such a wonderful time. In mixed teams, students rotated through a range of events such as: Equestrian, javelin, croquet, discuss, long jump, hammer throw, high jump and triathlon. Congratulations to all Olympians for their amazing efforts!
