The children in grades 3 to 6 are fortunate enough to attend four different camps over the time they spend at WHPS.
In Grades 3/4, the children will attend, Camp Rumbug at Foster, overlooking the hills of Wilsons Prom.
This camp is an adventure based camp, where the children are challenged in many ways. It's a camp where 'teamwork is promoted through adventure.'
In the alternate year the children attend the CYC camp at Cowes on Phillip Island.
This camp enables the children to do studies of Marine Life, visiting the seals and penguins and also participating in team building activities.
In Grades 5/6 the children attend Lady Northcote Recreation Camp, run by the YMCA. The camp is located in the Rowsley Valley, 15 minutes south west of Bacchus Marsh. The YMCA aim to provide opportunities for children to explore their full potential, through facilitation of unique outdoor adventure experiences.
The alternate year for Grades 5/6 will see the children attend Coastal Forest Lodge, 'a surfcoast recreation camp', at Anglesea.
Here the children will be participating in surfing & body boarding, river kayaking, team challenges & beach games and a bush dance Hoedown.
All four camps are a vital part of our school's curriculum.
This year the 3/4s will attend Phillip Island & the 5/6s Lady Northcote Camp.
Team building, social interaction, respect, communication, confidence and independence are just a sample of some of the 'life skills' that children will learn whilst on camp.
