2018 Prep Transition

Transition to Primary School is an exciting time for you and your child. At Watsonia Heights we have developed a holistic and comprehensive approach to support your child through this time.

Should you have any questions at any time please contact me directly as the more informed you are the more comfortable the process will be for yourself and most importantly your child!

Parents are encouraged to enrol asap to ensure you maintain your place for 2018.

2018 Prep Information Evening

For all interested parents we are conducting an Information Evening on Wednesday 29th March @ 7pmThis is for prospective parents to hear more about the school and its programs.  Everyone welcomed.

Informative Transition Evening

Come along and share in an evening with an Early Childhood consultant Sally Ward, as we explore and discuss readiness for school. Sally works alongside well-known expert Kathy walker and will share her insights for all interested parents.

Monday 8th May @ 7pm.

Play Dates

During term 2, 3 and 4 we will be conducting play dates for any interested kinder children. These are all afterschool from 4-5pm and everyone is welcomed. Please see the attached form to register your participation. Please note that all participating children/families must send an RSVP.

Kinder

WHPS conduct activity based learning opportunities with local Kinders during term 2 of 2017. (Kinders will notify parents of these activities). Children and parents will come to WHPS to participate in an interactive and engaging morning of fun learning activities. This is a great opportunity for children to simply have fun at school. The take home message for the children is the ‘School is FUN!’

Additionally, our current Prep students will also spend some time visiting local Kinders to involve themselves in a shared learning experience.

During the latter part of this year, Kinder teachers will develop ‘Transition statements’ that will require some input from parents. These are then sent to schools later in 2017.

At a similar time, later in the year we will visit with each feeder kindergarten. This will provide our Prep Teachers with the opportunity of observing your child in their kinder environment and also provide a chance to discuss your child’s learning progress with the Kindergarten teacher. This is an important step to building a holistic picture of your child as a learner. This aides the school in developing individual learning plans that will compliment and enhance existing skills. It also helps us in developing a program that maximises on individual learning styles to ensure a positive and effective transition into school life.

Enrolled Prep Information Evening

This is an exciting time, as you prepare yourselves and your children for life at school. It is also a very exciting time for us at the school as we prepare for our 2018 Prep Students.

Hopefully this time is proving to be a positive experience for your family. Along the way should you have any questions, concerns or issues, please do not hesitate to contact me via the school office, alternatively please keep a record of your questions and bring them along to the Parent Information Evening.
